Cabot Australian Timber Oil was originally formulated to protect dense tallowwood, cambara and merbau against extreme Australian sun and weather. It penetrates deep into resin-rich hardwoods that ordinary stains sit on top of, accentuating natural depth and patina rather than masking it.

The formula delivers three-way oil protection: superb-grade linseed oil for penetration, long-oil alkyds for durability, and pure South American tung oil for color depth and water repellency. Translucent iron oxide pigments add a UV-absorbing layer rich with color and dimension.

Key Features

  • Three-way oil blend — linseed, long-oil alkyd and pure tung oil
  • Formulated for dense exotic hardwoods, and equally effective on softwoods
  • Translucent iron oxide pigments for UV protection without hiding the grain
  • Water repellent and mildew resistant
  • Deep-penetrating with minimal film build — will not crack or peel
  • Ready-mixed colors, no tinting required

Coverage

  • Smooth surfaces: approx. 400–600 sq. ft. per gallon
  • Rough surfaces: approx. 250–350 sq. ft. per gallon
  • Spread rate varies with wood porosity and density

Recommended Uses
Decks, siding, railings, doors and outdoor furniture. Ideal for ipe, teak, mahogany, mangaris, cambara, merbau and other premium exotic hardwoods, as well as cedar and other softwoods. New or reconditioned wood.

Colors
Natural (3400), Amberwood (3457), Honey Teak (3458), Mahogany Flame (3459) and Jarrah Brown (3460).

Application Notes
One coat only — a second coat will not penetrate and can leave a tacky surface. Apply with a quality stain brush or pad applicator. For outdoor furniture, hand-rubbing gives the best result. Start at one edge of a board and carry through to the end to avoid lap marks. Clean up with mineral spirits.

Available Sizes
Quart, 1 gallon and 5 gallon.
